Engaging plot and characters hold up an adventure with a great blend of gameplay styles in a world often amazingly beautiful.
A few technical issues with texture pop-up, combat is fun but lacks depth, Pigsy is an unwelcome addition to the cast and there are occasional frustrating moment when you try to climb downwards. unwelcome addition to the cast and there are occasional frustrating moment when you try to climb...

From the moment we set our eyes on Enslaved, the latest game from Heavenly Sword creator Ninja Theory, it was clear that it was working on something special. Having now played the final game it’s even more obvious that this development team has moved o...
The ending may prove divisive, but thanks to some brilliant acting and well-balanced gameplay, Ninja Theory seems to have found the perfect storytelling formula. Enslaved is definitely worth your attention. 8.3/10Print this pageComments (0)Share this p...

A spirited adventure game, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West benefits from rich, engaging characters and a compelling story, but suffers from some minor control missteps. The story takes place hundreds of years in our future. It’s a war-ravaged, post-apoca...
Compelling characters and superb performances that have an emotional impact; gameplay that is varied enough to stay interesting throughout.
Problems with the controls and the camera; lacks polish.
It’s too bad the game suffers from some irritating problems, because Enslaved: Odyssey to the West is a game that never gets boring and often surprises. There are glimpses into the apocalypse that befell our civilization. Signs indicate evacuation zon...

Enslaved: Odyssey to the West takes place in a post apocalyptic world where robots have virtually wiped out all humanity on earth. The story is a loose retelling of the Chinese novel ‘Journey to the West’. You play as Monkey a strong warrior type who...
Overall Enslaved: Odyssey to the West is a bright, vibrant, action adventure game with a great story (up till the ending) that will keep your interest throughout the 15 chapter saga. Many of the game mechanics are simple and easy to get used to althou...

Simple platforming and combat hold it back from being a truly great action title; sloppy camera system; very frequent texture popins; the storys culmination doesnt live up to its presentation.
Enslaved is a definite improvement over Ninja Theorys previous title, Heavenly Sword. Though it features that same great attention to character detail and some remarkably beautiful looking environments, it remains a bit shallow in the technical depart...

Enslaved: Odyssey to the West is a pleasant surprise. It’s one of those games that you might overlook, because it wasn’t heavily promoted and came out at a time when a lot of big name releases like Fallout: New Vegas, Dead Rising 2, Rock Band 3 and...
Interesting story, no install needed, gorgeous environments, simple controls, fairly easy to command the Trip NPC, multiple difficulty levels, lots of upgrades to acquire, good voice acting and comes with comic book. There are also occasional third person shooter segments.
It’s difficult to explore and look for orbs since Monkey can die if he wanders too far from Trip, you can’t lock-on to enemies, it’s short and sometimes its difficult to see the shimmering items Monkey can climb on. Subtitles are very difficult to read.

Great graphics; exciting and fun gameplay; great story.
Some camera issues; platforming a bit too rigid.
Ninja Theory's Enslaved is a real diamond in the rough - it's a real gem of a game that with some work and money for a sequel, could turn out to be one heck of a franchise. Enslaved has some areas that could be improved, for sure, but the good story...

When I first heard about Enslaved: Odyssey to the West I was very skeptical. A platform/action game where you play a character being led and ordered by a woman who has power over your every move? It sounded more like a bad relationship (or a crappy Jak...

Slightly repetitive gameplay.

It's hard to quantify Enslaved. On the one hand, you'd be hard pressed to find a game with better all-round production - Enslaved pops its head up into Uncharted 2's realm at times. On the other hand, the gameplay behind all of this lavish cinematic wo...
It seems a little harsh to accuse Enslaved of presenting style over substance but the feeling remains nonetheless: much like Heavenly Sword before it, Enslaved is an exceptionally well produced game from Ninja Theory where gameplay takes a passenger se...

Enslaved is a game about a relationship. There is a story here, and it twists and turns and the ending flips the entire experience on its ear, but that's secondary to what's really important: the way two characters are thrown together and how they de...
The characters and setting are both top-notch, The voice acting and writing are incredible, The world feels filled with history and depth, even if it's not explicit, Combat and platforming elements feel solid, remain fun to the end, The story will keep you guessing, Vehicle sections change things up, don't get in the way, Your staff, with both melee and ranged attacks, is one of the cooler weapon...
Some technical glitches hurt the experience, The game is over in 8 hours or so, and there is little reason to play through again, Some of the humor falls flat, The levels can begin to feel repetitive in places: scan, fight, jump, repeat...
